Our tree and shrub treatment services are focused on ensuring your plants, hedges and trees are healthy, bug free and have ample nutrients to sustain future growth. Take a look at the services we offer.
Fertilization
Ornamental trees, shrubs, and perennials often get overlooked in the landscape when it comes to fertilization. We use 100% slow release granular fertilizer that will consistently feed your plants for up to 4 months. We offer this service by itself but it can also be added to any package as an additional option. Also, if you're interested in this service check out our deep root injection service as a more effective alternative.
Disease Control
Diseases are a real problem for many of our ornamental trees and shrubs in central Virginia due to the hot and humid spring and summer. Whether it's leaf spot on red tips, sooty mildew on roses, or blight in your boxwood, there are treatments for these diseases that should not be neglected. If you are not sure what's wrong with your plant(s), we will be happy to come out, free of charge, and give you our diagnosis and a plan of attack. There are diseases that may actually look like insect damage and vise versa. So before you waste your time and money spraying your plants, be sure you know exactly what you're spraying for. Pesticides and fungicides are expensive and should not be exposed to the environment unnecessarily.
Insect Control
Some insects can really decimate your plants in a short amount of time. The key is knowing which plants in the landscape are susceptible to which insect pests. Many
insects are better controlled preventatively where others need to be sprayed once apparent. We can incorporate, into our programs, an insect control plan just by coming out to your property and taking account of the types of trees and shrubs you have in your landscape. We offer different means of insect control including foliar sprays, soil drenching, granular, or we can even inject insecticides directly into the root zone of your plants where it is most efficient (see deep root injection for more on this).
Deep Root Injection
Deep root injection is a method of delivering fertilizer and systemic (chemical taken up by the roots of the plant) insecticides directly to the root zone where it's used more efficiently. The fertilization provided in this method gives plants a full year of feeding. If the insecticide provided, is applied in the spring, it will last throughout the summer during the time it's needed. Injection is a much improved method over granular or even liquid root drenches where much of the nutrients and/or chemicals are lost to run off and risk unnecessary exposure to our environment.
Soil Testing
We provide soil testing services. We take a sample from your soil then deliver the sample to a lab. Once the results come in (usually about 2 weeks) we will provide you with a copy of the results and go over them with you in depth. We will provide recommendations and come up with a plan to best suite you lawn or landscape's needs.
